Every dime I make here I reinvest in supporting other writers (and then some). I don't share this to 'signal' anything, but to challenge others to do the same. If 'you' have the means, pick and artist and support the hell out of them: pay, share, comment, encourage.
I have wondered how many people just subscribe and not read anything from the person they’ve subscribed to. I’m very new to all of this, but even I can only commit to a few!
One literary journal wrote - “we only want pieces from readers, not writers.” And their stance is “most people write to solely get published, but they don’t read.” I can appreciate that. I did 30 years of reading before I felt confident to pick up the pen.
Something like a *New Writer Monday* where they share a new writer with under 1000 subs? I love your voice in this, its angry yet fair.
I had someone reach out yesterday who has alot more subs than me and I was so appreciative of the support and guidance. We should all work to lift eachother up!

You are signalling you care about the creative community, especially if you talk about it, and call it out. That’s positive.
The point is the platform turns payment and subs into a visible (optional) status symbol.
I’m glad to be connecting with others who are aware and challenging it.

"Support is not allways money"
I’m sorry, I missed this.
Yes, ideally Substack would promote art but they’re soulless money-sucking cows.
Yes. Support is not always money.
Im glad you had someone genuine reach out. I’m so mad. I need to get off here for a bit. 🚬🫦 I don’t even smoke!!
